Lago Trasimeno - Umbria

Located just below the Convento Viandante del Cielo, Lake Trasimeno is the largest area of inland water on the Italian peninsula. Its surrounding lands were once part of the Etruscan empire – the remains of which are still visible today – and the area was also colonized by the Romans. The remains of two castles survive on the Polvese and Maggiore islands located in the center of the lake.
